All SSIP member schemes have fully committed to the vision of driving unnecessary cost and confusion out of supplier health and safety assessment, and SSIP's core philosophy is to enable effective cross-recognition between existing schemes. Furthermore the SSIP Core Criteria for assessments is aligned to the Government-backed construction pre-qualification document PAS 91, ensuring consistency within supply chain management.
Most principal contractors require their site workers to hold a valid CSCS card. This is so that they have proof that site workers are appropriately qualified in the area of work that they carry out. As an individual carrying out electrical / electrotechnical work, holding a valid ECS cards means that you can meet this requirement. In addition, the ECS card allows you to confirm your identity and demonstrate that you have recently passed an ECS Health, Safety & Environment Assessment test. To successfully apply for an ECS card, applicants must provide evidence of recognised and relevant qualifications and pass the ECS Health, Safety & Environment Assessment test. Our in house engineers hold ECA CSCS Cards in their relevant disciplines.
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). Where appropriate we ensure that all our site operatives carry out Enhanced DBS checks and are issued with an ID Card displaying their clearance number.
